Aryabhata

An Indian mathematician and astronomer of the classical age of Indian mathematics and Indian astronomy. He flourished in the Gupta Era and produced works such as the Āryabhaṭīya and the Arya-siddhanta.

At that era, he had incredible works that are still used and will probably used in the future as well.

He brought the value system and zero into use, approximated the value of π, which is still a mystery as it is a rational number. He gave the area of a triangle. tribhujasya phalaśarīraṃ samadalakoṭī bhujārdhasaṃvargaḥ (for a triangle, the result of a perpendicular with the half-side is the area)

He scientifically explained Eclipses, Heliocentrism, etc. India's first satellite was named after him. Calendric calculations by Aryabhata have been in continuous use in India for the  Panchangam and in other parts of the world, there are other calendars which follow the same basic rule. 

There are several research institutes after his name. The work that he and many other Indians have done make us proud about them.Their legacy give us a respect in the world.
